Adults Animal Assisted Activity Sessions
10.30 - 12
£15 per participant per session
sessions are approx 1.5 hours long
Suitable for adults with additional needs, our Animal Assisted Activity Sessions are a wellness activity with a difference.
Booked in blocks of six weekly sessions, each week we will feed and stroke our alpaca friends, forging bonds and learning each other’s language. We will take them for a short stroll, allowing ourselves to enjoy the gentle pace they set and develop our skills handling them. This will be followed by an optional hot drink and then either a craft or activity. At the end there will be free time and participants are encouraged to bring a packed lunch to eat in the Cosy Cabin, while enjoying the company of the animals and the relaxing sights and sounds of nature all around.
Crafts and activities will make use of natural materials as well as engagement with the animals and the world around us. They are designed to enliven the senses and boost the self-regard of the participants, providing enriching stimulation which benefits the body and mind. We may be creating with clay, clicker training, painting, trying our hand at alpaca agility, collaging with materials foraged on our walk or indulging in a little alpaca yoga! The crafts and activities will be tailored to the needs and abilities of the individuals in the group.
We offer our sessions for three participants (with up to three carers able to attend). Each session is around 1.5 hours long (plus free time at the end).

Adults Gardening Club
Fridays 12 - 2.30 BYO Packed Lunch
Booking is essential
£10 per participant per session
Our Accessible Sessions are limited to 6 participants aged 18+ and of all abilities (may include up to one carer/non participating guest per participant). Each week we will have different goals that change with the seasons and the needs of the garden.
We will be starting with a selection of raised beds and the intentions to plant and grow fruit trees, salad vegetables, flowers and more. The plan is the participants will be able to take home some of the fruits of their labour as well as selling some produce to help fund a polytunnel and other growth.
Each session will be run by Tara Sampy, a qualified gardener with experience of working with children and adults with additional needs and a solid belief in the benefit of spending time in nature and with plants. We have planned a programme to include plenty of room for personal growth, physical activity, the satisfaction of growing food and flowers, design and appreciation for nature.
Activities may include planting, repotting, weeding, watering, designing new raised beds, building beds, turning compost, tending to the wormery, learning about soil types and plant types, growing a living willow shelter, starting seeds, making plant labels, making hanging basket liners from alpaca fleece, making fat balls and bird cake, refilling the bird feeder and bird bath, planning and designing the garden’s development, mowing, pruning, painting plant pots, harvesting to take home, harvesting for sale, feeding “wonky” veg to the alpacas and more.
